Almas Ben-Aribia

Almas’ practice encompasses all areas of criminal prosecution and defence work including: violence, dishonesty, sexual offences, public disorder, drugs and driving offences.

Almas is a Grade 2 CPS Panel Advocate and is also regularly instructed in private prosecutions in both the Crown and Magistrates’ Court. She is also regularly instructed in proceedings pursuant to Proceeds of Crime Act legislation. She has a particular interest in honour-based violence and offences involving targeting of the victim based upon protected characteristics.

She has been engaged in a busy criminal practice, both prosecuting and defending at Nottingham, Derby, Leicester and Lincoln Crown Courts.  Almas was educated in the South West, obtained her degree at the University of Birmingham before converting to law in 2011.  She completed her Diploma in Law at the University of Birmingham in 2012 and the Bar Professional Training Course at the University of Law in 2013.

R v B (2020) – led junior in prosecution of 2-handed conspiracy to commit robberies. The investigation crossed three county force boundaries and incorporated cell-site, ANPR and telecoms evidence.
R v W (2019) – defending in a 2-handed trial where accused charged with kidnap, robbery and threats to kill.
R v C (2019) – pre-charge advice given and prosecution of a youth charged with sexual offences.
