Mark Knowles

Mark is a specialist Criminal practitioner with a national practice , his expertise spanning murder, serious offences of violence, drug related crime, serious sexual offences and complex fraud.

Mark is regularly instructed and has developed a particular expertise in complex commercial fraud , conducting numerous multi million pound fraud cases for the defence throughout the country. He also regularly defends in complex conspiracy cases involving drugs, serious crime ( OCG Cases ) and money laundering.

Mark is viewed as a natural jury advocate with a fluid advocacy style and has complex analytical skills and prides himself on meticulous preparation.

He has a single minded approach to best represent his client’s interests.

He is a RASSO qualified prosecutor.

Mark Knowles

Outside of his professional career, Mark has a keen interest in sport, particularly football, Rugby and Cricket. He is a keen supporter of Everton FC, and so has learnt to be very patient. Fortunately success for St.Helens RFC, has meant the rugby has been more enjoyable of late. He enjoys spending time with his family and regular weekends in North Wales.

2004-2022 : Defending in numerous complex MTIC fraud cases ( representing directors, accountants and CEO’s) at Liverpool CC, Southwark CC and Leeds CC, including R v C , R v G)
2002-2022 : Representing a number of prominent individuals in the Aston Villa and Birmingham City Organised Violence Hierarchy in a number of violent disorders throughout the country. Also defending in a number of football related violence cases in the East and West Midlands. Many resulting in acquittals
2018 R v B Defending in a Murder and large scale Violent Disorder case at Birmingham CC, which involved violence after a World Championship boxing bout in West Midlands. Defendant acquitted by Jury.
2020 R v NB Defending in a large scale County Lines/OCG operation case involving drugs turf wars in East Midlands.
2022 R v S Defending in a 20 defendant complex conspiracy to steal railtrack ( over £1 million ) and launder proceeds at Sheffield CC, involving a voluminous amount of business documents, telephone evidence and cell site analysis. Defendant acquitted by a jury after a long trial.
2016 R v G Defending in a 3 month complex conspiracy to steal high value items for high financial gain at Stafford CC . Defendant acquitted by Jury.
2009 R V G Prosecuting a case involving serious sexual offences upon the deaf community in the Midlands, involving the interaction with a number of sensitive witnesses. Defendant was convicted.
2022 R V W and R V G ( 2020 ) Defending in a sensitive repeated sexual assault of children cases with concerning aspects to the offences.
